Welcome to Newcastle Business Mums

June 13th, 2011 Posted in Events, news

Newcastle Business Mums started in 2008 and has over 148 members who enjoy informal business networking with other likeminded mums in business in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
Our next event is on 20th October 2011, where we have the inspirational Shazia Musfata from Third Door Workhub & Nursery coming to share her secrets about work-life balance and her ‘eureka’ moment which led her to set up her business. Take a look at our next event page for more info.

A little bit about us…

Newcastle Business Mums was set up by Vicki Stone from Vicki Stone Marketing, who after her 2nd child was creeping around in the morning (before the kids were up), trying to get to that early breakfast meeting at 7am. This inspired Vicki to set up the network, so she and other like-minded mums could meet in the evenings.

We’re not part of a franchise and there’s no membership fee, just pay as you go to events, which makes it ideal for mums on the go.

We’ve done all sorts of weird and wonderful events in the past like plate spinning at the Quayside, a skills swap along the promenade in Whitley Bay, mind body and soul event, with lots of inspiring speakers of women-led businesses in the North East.

The events normally start at 7.30pm and it’s an event which you attend without children, which we find makes it easier to network with likeminded mums in business.

Recent feedback:
“It was great to meet women who are successful in business and with a family life as well and to “network” in such a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”

“It was really positive to speak to so many women who are passionate about networking.”

“Really good, nice to see so many other mums trying to go alone!”

“It was great meeting other business mums, having chance to chat, and feeling “grown-up” (not just talking baby talk).”

Newcastle Business Mums event 28th February 2011

Our next event ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ is on Monday 28th February 2011, 7:30pm prompt at Cluny 2, 36 Lime Street, Newcastle.

Booking deadline has passed. If you do want to attend tonight’s event please contact vicki@vickistonemarketing.co.uk  or 07872 618895

Our guest speakers include Wendy Parvin from Conversations With Purpose and Samantha Coe from Butterfly.

We’ll be learning some Creative Visioning techniques with help from Wendy Parvin. To help bring your vision alive you will create a tangible representation (for example, a montage, sculpture or mind map) that captures your goals and aspirations.  We’ll also be doing some desk yoga and relaxation techniques to de-stress with Samantha Coe.

All of which we hope will help revitalise you and your business for a healthy start to 2011. We might even throw in a bit of soul music too!

There will also be light refreshments and of course a chance to catch up with other inspiring women who runs their own businesses.

As always we’ll be doing our 60 second spotlight round, so those of you with any news and offers, please email vicki@vickistonemarketing.co.uk – 10 spots only so first come first served!

Looking forward to seeing you on 28th February if not beforehand.

Newcastle Business Mums event a success

October 1st, 2010 Posted in Events, news

Thanks to Andrea Clarke from Enterprise Made Simple and Aggie Maxwell for working with Newcastle Business Mums to deliver the Back to school, back to your business event last night.

We discussed business planning with Enterprise Made Simple, which the group found very useful. We had quite a few new business mums attend which we’re hoping we will see again soon.

We also had a fun workshop with Aggie Maxwell who is a Creative Memories Consultant where we all brought a school pic of ourselves and guessed who was who, the best decorated card, the cutest, the most obvious and the worst dressed…

We’ll be getting together in November to celebrate our 2nd birthday so see you all again soon.
